Analysis of Brain Fiber Tracts on Ageing using Textural Features

چکیده
Diffusion magnetic resonance imaging is presently widely used technique that allows measurement of white matter fiber orientation in the human brain. The connectivity complex of fiber tracts strongly influences the function of communicating large neuronal networks in the brain. In order to analyze the changes in white matter with respect to age, the textural features are computed from the spatial distribution Gray level co-occurrence matrix. The variations in statistical features indicates the changes in white matter due to aging that are caused because of formation of lesions or damages in fiber tracts. This approach is designed to identify some of the changes occurring in brain tissues on aging, which in turn helps in understanding the physiological reasons for brain related problems in old people with normal health conditions.

Diffusion Tensor Magnetic Resonance Imaging (DTMRI) has proved useful for microstructure characterization of the brain. This technique also helps determining complex connectivity of fiber tracts. The brain white matter (BMW) changes with respect to age and corresponding appearance of white-matter lesions among the brain’s message-carrying axons affects cognitive functions in old age. In this pa...

Background and Aim: DTI-based tractography could help us to visualize the spatial relation of fiber tracts to brain lesions. Several factors may interfere with the procedure of diffusion-based tractography, especially in brain tumors. The aim of the current study is to discuss several solutions to improve the procedure of fiber reconstruction adjacent or inside brain lesions. Illustrative cases...
متن کاملRegional networks underlying interhemispheric connectivity: an EEG and DTI study in healthy ageing and amnestic mild cognitive impairment.
Interhemispheric coherence derived from electroencephalogram (EEG) recordings is a measure of functional interhemispheric connectivity. Diffusion tensor imaging (DTI) determines the integrity of subcortical fiber tracts. We studied the pattern of subcortical fiber tracts underlying interhemispheric coherence and its alteration in 16 subjects with amnestic mild cognitive impairment (MCI), an at ...

Background and Aim: The methods for detecting brain activation with fMRI, MRI provides a way to measure the anatomical connections which enable lightning-fast communication among neurons that specialize in different kinds of brain functions. Diffusion tensor imaging is able to measure the direction of bundles of the axonal fibers which are all aligned. Besides mapping white matter fiber tracts,...
متن کاملVehicle Logo Recognition Using Image Matching and Textural Features
In recent years, automatic recognition of vehicle logos has become one of the important issues in modern cities. This is due to the unlimited increase of cars and transportation systems that make it impossible to be fully managed and monitored by human. In this research, an automatic real-time logo recognition system for moving cars is introduced based on histogram manipulation. In the proposed...
